Various Common Types of Credit Cards

These days you almost have to have a credit card, the good news is that there are a wide variety of them available so you should be able to find one that meets your needs. It is important that you understand the difference between the types of credit cards so that you can choose the right one for your needs.

credit cards bunch The most common type of credit card is that standard credit card; these are the ones that are offered by companies like Visa which allow you to use them almost anywhere. These are cards that allow you to have a revolving balance. That means that you have a credit limit that you can spend up to. Each month you will receive a bill and as you pay that off you will then have that amount available again to use towards your credit limit. The bill that you receive each month will actually only require a small percentage of what you actually owe. That being said it is a good idea to pay it off in full each month.

The next type of card that you will come across is the limited purpose credit card. These are the store credit cards that can only be used at the store that issued them, gas cards are the most common of these. While these cards can normally only be used at the store that issued them many can now be use at other stores as well. These cards work pretty much the same way that a standard credit card does except that you are limited as to where you can use them.

Another type of credit card that is becoming common is the secured credit card. These are intended for people who have bad credit since they require that you deposit money as security to make sure that you make your payments. These cards work the same as any other credit card, you have credit limit and revolving credit and you will receive a bill each month. The only difference is that you had to deposit money as security to get the card. As long as you make all of the payments when you cancel the card you will get your money back. If you fail to make your payments the credit card company will keep the security deposit and probably cancel the card.

The last type of credit card that you will commonly come across is the prepaid credit card. This is not strictly a credit card since you are not actually being granted credit. Rather you deposit money and then that amount is debited as you use the card. With most prepaid credit cards no fees are charged when you use the card, just a small one when you first get the card. This makes it much cheaper than most credit cards.
